Joe Ruck

Joe Ruck, President and CEO

Joe is the President and CEO of BoardVantage. Joe is responsible for setting the company direction and communicating it to the BoardVantage customer base. He has led the company from its startup beginnings to its current position as a technology leader in board and leadership team communications. Joe also serves on the board of directors of BoardVantage in order to ensure seamless communication between company stakeholders and leadership.

Joe has been the CEO of BoardVantage since its initial VC funding at the end of 2002. He has led the company through two rounds of institutional financing, most recently in 2006. Joe is a frequent speaker on the impact of technology in the boardroom and the author of many articles on that topic in the press and on his blog.

Joe actively participates in all aspects of planning and design of the BoardVantage product, particularly the mobile director experience and the ongoing effort to improve leadership communications in a geographically dispersed world.

Prior to joining BoardVantage, Joe was senior vice president of marketing at Interwoven. Previously, he held sales, marketing, and executive positions at Sun Microsystems and Network Appliance. Joe holds a BS in engineering from Oregon State University and an MBA from Santa Clara University.

Junaid Syed

Junaid Syed, Chief Technology Officer

Junaid is responsible for leading technology at BoardVantage and brings extensive experience in building large-scale enterprise and SaaS solutions. Before joining BoardVantage, Junaid was an architect at Thomson Learning where he designed a number of content and digital asset management systems. Junaid is a highly-sought expert on the topic of achieving enterprise-class security in the era of SaaS, social media and tablet applications. Junaid holds a BS in engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore.

Mary De Frenchi

Mary De Frenchi, Vice President of Sales

Mary De Frenchi is vice president of sales and account management at BoardVantage. Mary has brought over 500 customers online with BoardVantage, working closely with them to accelerate their adoption of board portals, and to develop best practices for a paperless and mobile environment. Prior to BoardVantage Mary was director of marketing at Interwoven, responsible for large-scale initiatives around customer acquisition. Earlier in her career, Mary was manager of channel programs at Genesys Telecommunications (now part of Alcatel), and held marketing management positions at Lockheed Martin. Mary holds a BS in business administration from San Diego State University.

Dean Merritt

Dean Merritt, Chief Financial Officer

Dean leads corporate finance at BoardVantage. He has focused on emerging technology companies during his career. Before joining BoardVantage he gained industry experience that spans many sectors including semiconductors, hosted Internet services, optical networking, software enterprises, communications, Wi-Fi network infrastructure manufacturing, and medical devices. Earlier in his career, he worked at Varian & Associates, MAST Immunosystems, Universal Semiconductor, and the Leased Investment Group for JR Parrish. Dean holds a BS in accounting from San Jose State University.

Mike Schuh

Mike is a General Partner of Foundation Capital. He has extensive experience in the software industry, including four technology start-ups. Twice in his career, Mike has created market-leading enterprise software companies: Computervision in the CAD/CAM market and Cadence in Electronic Design Automation. Before joining Foundation Capital, Mike was CEO, co-founder, and chairman of Intrinsa Corporation, a software applications company that was acquired by Microsoft. Previously, he was the Vice President of Sales at Clarify, Cadence Design Systems, and Computervision. Mike currently serves on the boards of Netflix, Responsys, ONStor, Jasper Design Automation, VaST, and Vivecon.

Neal Dempsey

Neal has been part of Bay Partners since 1989 and is the Managing General Partner. As a veteran in the high-tech industry, he has an extensive track record of success, including investments in Informatica, Weblogic/BEA, and Brocade. He serves on the boards of a number of his portfolio companies, including Brocade. Before joining Bay Partners, Neal was CEO of Qubix Graphics Systems, Chief Executive of Envision Technology, and a member of the senior management teams at Zentec and Harris Corporation. In addition to his corporate endeavors, Neal serves on the board of EMQ Children and Family Services (a.k.a. Eastfield Ming Quong), and he has helped establish the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program at the University of Washington Business School.

William A. Hasler

Bill is the former Chairman of the Board of Solectron Corporation and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Aphton Corporation. In addition to being a trustee of The Schwab Funds, he serves on the boards of other public and private companies, including Ditech Networks, Harris Stratex Networks, Mission West Properties, InsideTrack, ETWater, and Rubicon Ltd. He was dean of the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1991 to 1998, and was the Vice Chairman of Worldwide Management Consulting at KPMG from 1986 to 1991.
